JONESBORO, Ark. - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team fired a one-over par 572 Monday afternoon and are currently second overall heading into the final round of the ASU Red Wolf Classic. SFA opened the day with a five-under 283 in the first round, including three players who finished the first 18 under par at the Ridge Pointe Country Club in Jonesboro, Ark.
Junior Kyle Robbins recorded the team's highest score in the opening round with a three-over 75, but battled back in the second round to shoot the team's lowest score of the day (68). He is currently tied for 13th overall.
Classmate Michael Smith was the team's most consistent player. After opening with a three-under 69, Smith closed out the day with a two-under par 70. He will open the final round of play in a three-way tie for third (139). Freshman Mitchell McLeroy carded a one-over 145 and sits tied for 24th overall. Sophomore Stetson McMillan is only four strokes back of McLeroy (149) and is tied for 49th overall. Freshman Austin Green shot a one-under 71 in the opening round, but struggled in the second round with a nine-over 81. He is currently tied for 71st overall.
The Lumberjacks will go in search of their second consecutive tournament title when they open the final round of the ASU Red Wolf Classic Tuesday morning.
