Lumberjacks Place Third at ASU Red Wolf Intercollegiate

JONEBORO, Ark. - The Stephen F. Austin men's golf team finished third at the ASU Red Wolf Intercollegiate on Tuesday at the Ridgepoint Country Club in Jonesboro, Ark.
The Lumberjacks carded a final team score of 283-289-289- 861, finishing just three strokes behind tournament champion Middle Tennessee State and merely one stroke behind Central Arkansas who placed second.
The 'Jacks' were led by the consistency of junior Michael Smith throughout the tournament. Smith recorded a second-place finish after shooting an impressive 69-70-71 - 210 to end the tournament six under par.
Smith wasn't the only Lumberjack to record a top-ten finish as teammate Kyle Robbins carded a three-under par 75-68-70- 213 to tie for eighth in the individual standings. The result marks his fourth top-ten finish of the 2009-10 season.
Sophomore Stetson McMillan posted a four-over par 73-76-71- 220 to tie for 31st. Freshman Mitchell McLeroy tied for 44th overall after shooting a 70-73-75- 218, while teammate Austin Green struggled in the final rounds to finish the tournament with a 71-81-81- 233.
The Lumberjacks return to action Monday, April 26th, when they travel to Hammond, La., to open Southland Conference play.
