Series Notes
- The last time SFA and Prairie View met was in 2007 when Prairie View took a 17-7 win at Prairie View in an early season midweek battle. The Panthers jumped out to a 7-2 lead before a nine-run fifth inning broke things open.
- Wednesday will be only the fourth occasion that SFA has taken on a team from the SWAC with SFA having played single games against Prairie View in 2007, Mississippi Valley State in 2009 and Grambling to open up this season.
- Tanner Hines has once again heated up as he rides a team-best, 12-game hit streak into Wednesday's contest. He is also benefiting from the balanced attack around him, as is evident by his 16 RBI in only 22 games after only driving in 19 runs in all of 2009.
- The last time the "Jacks and Bobcats met was in the first round of the 2009 Southland Conference Tournament when the top-seeded Bobcats advanced with a 9-2 decision over the eighth-seeded `Jacks. The `Cats had won the season series in San Marcos, taking the first two games of the series before the `Jacks took a 7-4 win in the finale to escape with a win.
- The last time that Texas State came to Nacogdoches it was all SFA as the `Jacks swept the Bobcats in a three-game set in 2008. That sweep was part of a nine-game winning streak for SFA and a stretch in which the `Jacks won 10 of 11 overall.
- The weekend will feature two of the top teams in the Southland on the basepaths as Nicholls leads the league with 39 swipes and the `Jacks are not far behind with 32 of their own, despite having had four games cancelled due to weather.
