NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Lumberjack Alley tailgating experience returns to Stephen F. Austin this Saturday leading up to the 6 p.m. tip-off between the SFA Ladyjacks and Southeastern Louisiana in the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
Tailgating will begin at 3:30 p.m., and party spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis in the southeast corner of the parking lot across from the coliseum. The SFA Alumni Association will provide hot dogs for the first 100 guests at its tailgate tent.
This weekend's game also doubles as the annual Ladyjack Academic Shootout, an event that raises funds for summer school and fifth-year student scholarships for the Ladyjack basketball program. People who wish to donate to the Ladyjack Academic Shootout may contribute online at www.sfaalumni.com, in person at the Tracie D. Pearman Alumni Center or in the coliseum on game day. The Ladyjack Academic Shootout is co-sponsored by the SFA Alumni Association and the Hoop Group.
The Saturday match-up also is the Ladyjack's annual "Pink Zone" celebration that promotes breast cancer awareness and honors those affected by the disease.
"Take a Kid to the Game" also occurs Saturday. Kids 14 and under will receive free admission to the game, along with free popcorn and $1 hot dogs. The SFA Cheerleaders will also be on hand prior to the game to paint faces for those in attendance
The Ladyjacks enter the week 13-9 overall, and in a two-way tie for first in the SLC East Division with an 8-3 conference mark. Southeastern Louisiana is 10-13 overall, and 4-6 on the year heading into their game against Texas-Arlington Wednesday evening.
