PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack head coach J.C. Harper has been placed on the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year ballot for a second consecutive year announced the Sports Network Monday morning. Last season Harper finished second in one of the closest votes in award history.
Harper guided SFA to a 9-2 overall record, and a No. 2 national ranking in 2010. The Lumberjacks won their second consecutive conference title for the first time in program history. Harper's charges also recorded their first outright Southland Conference title since the 1989 season. Harper also becomes the first coach in school history to guide SFA to back-to-back playoff appearances.
The Lumberjacks are making a return trip to the NCAA FCS Playoffs. SFA will open postseason play Saturday, Dec. 4 when it hosts defending National Champion Villanova. The game is slated to begin at 2:30 from Homer Bryce Stadium, and will be televised on ESPN3 and ESPN GamePlan.
