
Lumberjacks Dominate All-SLC Teams

FRISCO, Texas - Seniors Jeremy Moses and Jabara Williams, and Stephen F. Austin head coach J.C. Harper headlined the 2010 All-Southland Conference teams, which were released Tuesday morning. Moses was named SLC Offensive Player of the Year, and repeated as league player of the year, while Williams was named the SLC Defensive Player of the Year. Harper also received his second consecutive conference coach of the year award.
The Lumberjacks dominated the 2010 all-conference teams placing 22 names on the first and second teams, and the honorable mention list. Among the 21 players, nine were first-team selections and four earned second-team honors. Nine offensive, 10 defensive and two special teams players were honored by the league.
Moses took league player, and offensive player of the year honors following a season that saw him become the conference's all-time leader in completions, touchdown passes, yards passing and total offense. He was the first conference player to record 13,000 yards passing, 12,000 yards of total offense and 1,100 completions in a career.
Moses directed an offense that finished first in the nation in passing offense, and finished among the top six in the country in total and scoring offense. He completed nearly 61 percent of his passes for 3,658 yards and 34 touchdowns with only four interceptions on the season. He becomes the first SLC player to win both the conference offensive player and player of the year awards in the same season since 1999.
A 2010 Buck Buchanan Award candidate, Williams finished second on the team with 98 total tackles, including six for losses. He was also credited with 1.5 sacks, four pass break ups, three fumble recoveries and an interception. A three-time first-team All-Southland Conference selection, Williams will leave SFA with more than 400 career tackles, despite splitting his freshman season between offense and defense.
Harper is a 2010 Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year candidate after guiding SFA to its second-straight SLC title, and nine win season. The Lumberjacks enter postseason ranked No. 2 in the FCS Coaches' Top 25 Poll, and third in the Sports Network Top 25 Poll. The 2010 season was a historical one for Harper's Lumberjacks as it marked the first time in program history that SFA has won back-to-back conference titles.
Joining Moses on the first-team offense are receivers Gralyn Crawford and Cordell Roberson, and offensive lineman George Bias. The second-team offensive selections are sophomore offensive lineman John Steel and Corey Dickerson.
Roberson and Crawford are already among the school's all-time best receivers despite their sophomore status. Crawford led the team with 69 catches for 889 yards and five touchdowns, while Roberson led the league in touchdown receptions. He averaged 18.1 yards per reception, and finished the year with 52 catches for 940 yards and 16 touchdowns.
The trio of Bias, Steel and Dickerson combined to protect Moses, and produce one of the more potent offenses in the country. The Lumberjacks led the nation in passing for a second consecutive season, and finished third in the country in scoring offense and sixth in total offense. SFA also finished among the nation's top 20 in sacks allowed, despite putting the ball in the air 546 times on the season.
Williams was joined on the first-team defense by senior defensive linemen Kenneth Charles and Sean Warren, and sophomore corner Josh Aubrey. Charles moved to end after earning second-team all-conference honors on the interior in 2009. Charles and Warren combined to help SFA finish third in the country in sacks as a team. Charles finished the year ranked 10th overall, while Warren was 22nd in sacks.
A hard-hitting corner from Tyler, Texas, Aubrey continued to improve in the SFA secondary as a sophomore. He finished the season fourth on the team with 64 tackles, including four for losses, and 10 pass breakups, three fumble recoveries, two interceptions and a blocked kick. Joining Aubrey in the secondary is senior Andre Banks who earned second-team honors.
Crawford also earned first-team all-conference honors as a return specialist. He was the catalyst for a team that led the nation in kickoff returns. Crawford averaged 31.5 yards per return in 2010, and tied for tops in the nation with 3 returns for touchdowns. He also returned a punt for a touchdown, and was named conference and national special teams player of the week several times during the season. Junior punter Drew Nelson joined Crawford is the second Lumberjack on the special teams list. He garnered second-team All-SLC recognition for a second consecutive season. He averaged 42.1 yards per punt with nine punts of more the 50 yards, including a season-best of 63 yards.
The Lumberjack also had eight players receive honorable mention honors. Tha athletes includes running back Romonté Hampton, receivers Anthony Foster and Kris Lott, defensive end Rainey Sternes, linebackers Derrick Choice and Devin Ducote and defensive backs Caleb Nelson and Ben Wells.
