'Jacks Stock on the Rise

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team climbed to No. 3 in the Sports Network (TSN) Top 25 poll announced TSN officials Sunday morning. It equals the team's highest ranking of the season.
The Lumberjacks received six first-place votes to finish behind only Appalachian State and Eastern Washington. The six first-place votes are the most the Lumberjacks have received this season.
The Lumberjacks capped their second consecutive nine-win season Saturday with a 36-13 victory over Northwestern State. SFA finished the season with a 9-2 overall record, and won the league's automatic bid into the NCAA FCS Playoffs.
SFA received a bye in the opening round of the playoffs, and will face defending National Champion Villanova Saturday, Dec. 4th, in Nacogdoches. The game is slated to kick off at 2:30 from Homer Bryce Stadium, and will be televised on ESPN GamePlan.
Tickets for the playoff game against Villanova will go on sale Monday at 10 a.m. through the SFA Ticket Office. Tickets can be purchased by dialing (936) 468-JACK, or by logging onto the SFA Athletics web site, www.sfajacks.com.
