
'Jacks Aerial Assault Ranks Tops in the Nation

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team is the 2009 statistical passing national champion according to the NCAA web site. The Lumberjacks finished the season averaging 343.7 yards passing per game.
The Lumberjacks finished the season with 4,468 yards passing, and were one of only two FCS schools to throw for at least 4,000 yards during the year. SFA also led the nation with 44 touchdown passes. The Lumberjacks were the only NCAA FCS school to pass for at least 40 touchdowns, and were second overall at the NCAA Division I level.
Junior quarterback, and 2009 Southland Conference Co-Player of the Year, Jeremy Moses had an outstanding season. He completed 385 passes for 4,124 yards and 40 touchdowns, while guiding SFA to a share of the conference title and the league's automatic berth in the NCAA Playoffs. It was SFA's first conference title since 1999, and the program's first playoff berth since the 1995 season. The 'Jacks also finished the year ranked in the nation's top 10.
