TULSA, Okla. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team will look to regroup after two heartbreaking losses, and a three-game skid, Monday when it travels to Tulsa, Okla., to face the Golden Hurricane. Tulsa is 5-5 (.500) on the season, and is coming off consecutive wins over Cal State Fullerton and McNeese State. The Ladyjacks enter the showdown with an identical 5-5 overall mark. Monday's game is slated to begin at 7 p.m. from the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
The Ladyjacks are 4-3 (.571) all-time against Tulsa, and are coming off a 59-55 decision last season in Nacogdoches. The Golden Hurricane recorded a 62-49 decision the last time the two schools met in the Reynolds Center (2007-08).
SFA will be looking to reverse a trend in the series with Tulsa. The home team has won every meeting in the series dating back to the 2003-04 season. The only other meeting prior to that was in the 1982-83 season, a 108-64 victory for the Ladyjacks, but SFA records do not indicate the venue for that contest.
Junior Jordan Ford in coming off a tremendous effort against Maine. The Carrollton, Texas native scored a team-high 16 points, and pulled down 11 rebound against the Black Bears. It was Ford's third double-double of the season, and fourth of her career.
Sophomore Schera Sampson came off the bench to give head coach Lee Ann Riley some quality minutes against Louisiana Tech. Sampson pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds against the Lady Techsters.
SFA will be back in action Saturday when they return home to take host Sam Houston State in the Southland Conference opener. The game against the Bearkats is slated to begin at 6 p.m. from the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
