NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team (9-8/4-2 SLC) will look to bounce back from Wednesday's 68-64 setback to Northwestern State, when it returns to the court Saturday to host McNeese State. The Cowgirls are 5-13 (.278) on the season, and 1-4 (.200) in the Southland Conference. The Cowgirls have dropped five of their last six games, but ended a five-game skid Wednesday defeating Nicholls, 54-52. Saturday's game is slated to begin at 6 p.m. from the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
SFA vs. the Cowgirls: The Ladyjacks are 39-8 (.830) all-time against McNeese State. The Ladyjacks swept the season series last year, and have won five of the last six meetings in the series. The Ladyjacks recorded a five-point victory, 55-50, last season in Nacogdoches.
Windex Award: The Ladyjacks did a great job clearing the boards against Northwestern State. SFA pulled down 53 rebounds against the Lady Demons, which marked the sixth time this season that SFA has recorded at least 50 rebounds in a game. The Ladyjacks also had three players finish the game with at least 10 rebounds. It marks the first time in the Lee Ann Riley era that SFA has had at least three players with double-digit rebounds
Double-Double: Junior Toni Davis notched her fourth career double-double Wednesday night. She tied a career with 15 points, and pulled down 12 rebounds against the Lady Demons. It is the ninth time this season that a Ladyjack has recorded a double-double.
Approaching a Milestone: Senior Whitney Cormier scored seven points against Northwestern State and needs only 24 points to become the 24th Ladyjack in school history to score 1,000 points.
Up Next ... The Ladyjacks return to action Wednesday when they travel to Thibodaux, La., to take on Nicholls. The game against the Colonels is slated to begin 6:30 p.m. from Stopher Gym.
