
SFA Takes 3-1 Win Over Bulldogs In Tourney Opener

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Melissa Miksch and Amber Williams-Roberts each turned in double-doubles as the Ladyjacks once again overcame a slow start to defeat Mississippi State 3-1 (22-25, 25-15, 25-14, 25-21) in their first match of the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational on Friday morning.
Miksch finished with season-bests with 11 kills and 23 digs, while Williams-Roberts led SFA with 14 kills and 12 digs as SFA (4-2) moved to 4-0 all-time against the Bulldogs (1-3).
SFA only hit .045 in the first set, but rebounded to swing .324 in the second set and eventually cruise to a 2-1 lead. In the final set the Bulldogs led the majority of the way, but SFA scored the final six points of the match in closing it out.
Ashley Bailey finished with six blocks and eight kills and Mary Caitlin Bottles had five blocks and eight kills as well, while Laurel Kuepker dished out a team-high 23 assists.
