Mahipala Just Misses School Record

WALNUT, Calif. - Junior distance runner Keith Mahipala clocked a time of 9:03.28 to finish 12th overall in the steeplechase at the Mt. SAC Relays Thursday evening in Walnut, Calif. Mahipala was only 13-hundredths of a second off the school-record pace, but qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships.
The Plano, Texas native, came close to breaking a school record that has stood since the end of the 2004 season. Former Lumberjack Mike Thompson set the current standard posting a 9:03.15 at the 2004 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
SFA returns to action Friday with the opening day of competition at the John McDonnell Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
