
'Jacks Struggle in Southern Louisiana

SPRINGFIELD, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team finds itself with some ground to make up after shooting rounds of 309 and 308 Monday afternoon in the opening round of the Carter Plantation Intercollegiate. The 'Jacks enter the final round seventh overall in the 12-team field after recording a 41-over par, 617 on the par 72, 7,104-yard course.
Sophomore Michael Smith led the Lumberjacks by recording a two-round score of 75-76 - 151, to finish tied for 10th overall. Freshman Stetson McMillan is a stroke back of Smith, and recorded the team's lowest round of the day shooting a two-over 74 during the second round of action. McMillan is currently tied for 12th overall.
Sophomore Kyle Robbins struggled during the team's first action in a month, finishing the day with a 13-over, 157. He is currently tied for 32nd with 18 holes left to play. Junior Josh Irving recorded the team's final scoring round of the day. Irving posted a 79-80 - 159 to finish tied for 38th overall. Senior Chad Spencer is currently tied for 47th overall after shooting a 161.
The Lumberjacks return to action Tuesday morning with the final round of the Carter Plantation Intercollegiate. The round is slated to begin at 7:50 a.m.
