
'Jacks Climb to Fourth

SPRINGFIELD, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks recorded a nine-over par 297 to jump three places in the final standings of the Carter Plantation Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon in Springfield, La. Led by freshman Stetson McMillan who shot a team-low 11-over 227, the Lumberjacks finished tied for fourth with a three-round 309-308-297 - 914. McMillan finished tied for 13th in the final individual standings.
Senior Chad Spencer showed the greatest improvement from the opening day of competition, shooting a team-low one-over par 73 in the final round to finish tied for 35th overall. Sophomore Michael Smith recorded the team's second-lowest score carding a 75-76-77 - 228 to finish tied for 16th overall. Classmate Kyle Robbins recorded a two-over 74 to finish the tournament tied for 28th overall (79-78-74 - 231). Junior Josh Irving closed out the day tied for 35th after shooting a 234.
The Lumberjacks return to action Monday when they travel to Little Rock, Ark., for the UALR Trojan Golf Classic.
