SFA Golf Finishes Day Seventh at UTSA

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team opened the spring season Monday morning at the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational in San Antonio, Texas. The Lumberjacks shot an eight-over par (288-296) 584 to place seventh overall heading into Tuesday's final round at the Oak Hills Country Club.
Sophomore Michael Smith led the charge for SFA shooting a three-under 69 in the opening round. He finished the day with a one-under 143, and is currently tied for 18th overall. Freshman Stetson McMillan is only three strokes off Smith's pace after shooting a 72-74 - 146. He is currently tied for 27th overall.
Senior Chad Spencer is the only Lumberjack to shoot better in the second round of action Monday, than in the first round. After carding a 74 in the opening round, Spencer closed out the day with a one-over 73. He is currently tied for 33rd with a 147.
Junior Matt Oates rounded out the Lumberjacks' top four by shooting a three-over 75 in both rounds. He is currently tied for 47th overall with a 150. Freshman Kyle Robbins finished the day tied for 55th overall with a 73-79 - 152.
