NACOGDOCHES, Texas - In a week that has seen Tim Knicky receive All-America accolades from two different publications, the senior from Cedar Park has added another honor to his season's accomplishments. Knicky has been named a 2009 FCS Academic All-Star.
The two-time Academic All-Southland Conference, and two-time All-America selection has been a standout on the field and in the classroom for four seasons in Nacogdoches. Knicky helped guide the Lumberjacks to their first conference title since the 1999 season, while leading the conference, and finishing second in the nation in sacks. Knicky did this while maintaining at least a 3.2 grade-point average in the classroom.
Knicky closed out his career by earning first-team All-SLC honors, and being named the 2009 SLC Co-Defensive Player of the Year. He was also a finalist for the 2009 Buck Buchanan Award, which is given annually to the nation's top defensive player at the FCS level.
