NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team cracked the FCSnow.com Top 10 Tuesday afternoon. The Lumberjacks, who are currently riding a six-game win streak, are ranked 10th according to the latest poll. Along with their top-10 ranking, the Lumberjacks have also ascended to 11th in the College Sporting News' Gridiron Power Index.
The Lumberjacks improved to 6-1 on the season, and a perfect 3-0 in Southland Conference play after thumping league-rival Sam Houston State, 42-3, at Homer Bryce Stadium over the weekend. SFA has been perfect since dropping a season-opening heartbreaker at SMU. The Lumberjacks are currently ranked 11th in the latest Sports Network Top 25 poll, which is the team's highest rank since the 2004 season.
SFA returns to action Saturday when they travel to San Marcos, Texas, to face Texas State. The game against the defending league champs is slated to begin at 2 p.m. from Bobcat Stadium. The 'Jacks have struggled in the last two meetings being outscored, 114-50. SFA dropped a 62-21 decision to the Bobcats last season in Nacogdoches.
