FRISCO, Texas - Junior quarterback Jeremy Moses and sophomore linebacker Devin Ducote have been named Southland Conference Players of the Week announced league officials Monday afternoon. It marks eighth time this season that SFA has had a player receive the weekly honor.
Moses was nearly perfect as the Lumberjacks ended a five-year drought to conference-rival Sam Houston State with a 42-3 victory Saturday. Moses completed 27-of-38 passes for 372 yards and five touchdowns. Already the school's all-time leader in completions and touchdown passes, Moses became only the second quarterback in school history to pass for 7,500 yards in a career.
Ducote earned his first player of the week honor after a career-high 16-tackle performance. Ducote led a defensive effort that surrendered only 186 yards of total offense and three points to the Bearkats. Of his 16 tackles, six were unassisted, including one tackle for a loss.
The league-leading Lumberjacks will place their six-game win streak on the line Saturday when they travel to defending Southland Conference champion, Texas State. The game against the Bearkats (4-3, 2-1 SLC) is slated to begin at 2 p.m. from Bobcat Stadium.
