PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Stephen F. Austin senior defensive end Tim Knicky has been added to the Buck Buchanan Award Watch List executive director of the The Sports Network announced Thursday afternoon. Knicky is only of only two Southland Conference athletes, and one of only 20 players in the country on the list. The award is given annually to the top defensive player at the NCAA Division I FCS level.
Knicky is the heart-and-soul of a Lumberjack defensive that help guide SFA to a 16-13 upset win over No. 7 McNeese State, and crack the most recent top-25 poll (20th) for the first time since 2005. One of the more intimidating players in the nation, Knicky leads the country in sacks (1.62 pg), and is among the top five in tackles for losses (1.88 pg).
Knicky, and the Lumberjacks, return to action Saturday when they travel to Conway, Ark., to take on No. 10 Central Arkansas. The game against the Bears is slated to begin at 6 p.m. from Estes Stadium.
