HOUSTON, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's track and field team continues to post solid marks in the early part of the 2009 indoor track and field season. SFA kicked off the first day of the Houston Invite and Multis Friday afternoon at the Bill Yeoman Fieldhouse and posted one individual title, and three runner-up finishes.
Junior thrower Frednisha Marshall added another individual title to her already impressive résumé. The Tyler, Texas, native, recorded a throw of 63-4.00 to win the weight throw, and set her third NCAA provisional mark in as many weeks.
Junior Chris Moody finished second overall, but was the top collegiate finisher in the men's 400-meter dash, posting a time of 49.97. He missed the individual title by only 13-hundredths of a second. Freshman Alex Teator finished eighth overall in the event with a time of 51.48.
The Ladyjacks placed two athletes in the finals of the 200-meter dash. Sophomore Arteria Sterns missed the individual title in the event by only two one-hundredths of a second (25.82). Classmate Kelia Crawford was fifth overall with a time of 25.92.

Freshman Nick McCloud continued his impressive rookie season by posting another top-10 finish. Less than a week after recording an individual title in the 60-meter hurdles, he returned to action to record a mark of 21-4.75 to finish eighth overall in the long jump.
SFA returns to action Saturday when they close out the Houston Invite and Multis. The athletes will begin with the final events of the heptathlon, the running of the women's 5,000 meters and the women's shot put.
