NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team will be hosting Northwestern State Wednesday, Feb. 11, in the William R. Johnson Coliseum. The contest will also serve the Ladyjacks' Pink Zone game.
The Pink Zone, formerly known as Think Pink, is the WBCA's initiative to help raise awareness about breast cancer. Last season more 1,200 schools from the high school and university level participated in the event, reaching more than 830,000 fans, and raising more than $930,000 for the fight against breast cancer.
All fans wearing pink will receive free admission to the contest. Both the Ladyjacks and Northwestern State will be wearing special pink apparel during the game. Pink autographed basketball will be given away, and SFA will be honoring breast cancer survivors at halftime. Representatives from the American Caner Society will also be on hand to help educate the public, and accept donations.
The Ladyjacks enter the week with an 8-9 overall record, and currently in second place in the Southland Conference East Division with a 3-2 league record. Ironically, the Ladyjacks will be in Natchitoches, La., Wednesday to face division leader Northwestern State (11-6/3-1 SLC). Wednesday's game is slated for a 7 p.m. start from Prather Coliseum.
