HOUSTON, Texas - Stephen F. Austin supervisor of equipment and facilities Greg Payne has been named equipment manager for the 2009 East-West Shrine Game. The senior all-star game will take place Saturday, Jan. 17, at 3 p.m. in Robertson Stadium on the University of Houston campus.
The East-West Shrine Game is the oldest of all the senior bowl all-star games, which dates back to 1925. Not only is the game an opportunity for collegiate seniors to put their talents on display for the NFL scouts, but it also helps raise funds for Shriners Children's Hospitals.
Payne, who is in his 29th season at SFA, will serve as the equipment manager for the West team, who is coached by former Alabama and St. Louis Cardinals head coach, Gene Stallings.
