Shazkho Leads The Way As Ladyjacks Wrap Up SFA Invitational

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Ladyjack tennis team closed out their fall schedule on a high note with Alina Shazkho leading the way by winning the second flight of singles play at the SFA Fall Invitational at the Schlief Tennis Complex on Saturday.
Shazkho just needed straight sets to drop Marijeen Ashrati of Lamar 6-4, 6-2, giving Shazkho three wins on the weekend over Southland Conference opponents. The freshman from Ukraine also made it to the finals of flight one doubles action, as she and Roxana Enica knocked off Wilhelm and Paraschiv of North Texas by an 8-2 score early Saturday morning to advance. However, The Ladyjack duo ran into a strong tandem from Sam Houston as Sotnikova and Taylor disposed of the Ladyjacks easily, 8-1, in the final.
Enica was also one of two other Ladyjacks to pick up singles wins on Saturday, knocking off Catalina Cruz of North Texas 2-6, 6-4 (10-8) in the seventh-place match of the first flight. Jamie Williams earned the other singles win for SFA, defeating Jennifer Nowland 6-3, 6-1 in the seventh-place match of flight six.
