Game Information
This Week: The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team will try to bounce back from a tough Nebraska road trip Sunday when it takes on Prairie View A&M. The game against the Panthers marks the midpoint of the 2008 season and will be SFA's final non-conference game of the year. The Ladyjacks enter the contest with a 2-5-0 record. Prairie View was 0-7-1 coming into the week, but had games against Texas Southern and Southeastern Louisiana scheduled before Sunday's showdown.
Last Week: SFA traveled to the state of Nebraska for a two-game swing, taking on Creighton and Nebraska. Friday's game at Creighton was promising early, as the teams played to a scoreless tie at halftime. But the Bluejays put in two goals in the second half to take the win. On Sunday, SFA struck first, with a goal by Summer Bradfield on a corner kick at the 1:43 mark. But Nebraska answered late in the first half and tacked on a second-period goal to take a 2-1 win.
SFA vs. the Panthers: Sunday's game will mark the first meeting between the Ladyjacks and Prairie View A&M. SFA is 3-0-0 all-time against teams from the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
The Coaches: SFA is coached by George Van Linder. In his first year at SFA, Van Linder has compiled a 2-5-0 record. He is 126-104-20 in 12 years as a collegiate head coach. Abe Garcia is the head coach at Prairie View.
Next Week: SFA will open the Southland Conference schedule with a road trip to Thibodaux, La. The Ladyjacks take on Nicholls State on Sunday, Oct. 5. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
