
Horned Frogs Top SFA In Opener

FORT WORTH, Texas - Stephen F. Austin opened the 2008 soccer season Friday with a 5-0 loss at TCU. The Horned Frogs scored three times in the opening period then tacked on a pair of late goals in the last six minutes to set the final count.
TCU built its lead early, striking in the fourth minute when Lizzy Karoly scored the game's first goal. Jordan Calhoun followed with a goal in the 10th minute, then set the 3-0 halftime score with her second score in the 31st minute.
SFA held the Horned Frogs off the board for the next 52 minutes, but Karoly made it a 4-0 game with her second goal of the game, this one coming in the 84th minutes. Four minutes later, Nikki Wilbur put one in the net for the game's final tally.
The Horned Frogs held a 13-3 advantage in shots at the half and went on to make it 22-6 by game's end.
All six of SFA's shots were on goal, and each came off the foot of a different Ladyjack. Kesia Broome, Brenna Crockett, Janae Lee, Amanda Lackey, Kim Kimmel and Kelli Wilson each recorded a shot on goal for SFA.
Junior Crystin Pactor started in net and played all 90 minutes, continuing her streak of 20 consecutive starts at goalkeeper for SFA. She recorded six saves.
SFA will be back in action Friday, Aug. 29, when the Ladyjacks host Centenary College in their first home game of the season.
