NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin athletic department has reached an agreement with GAP Broadcasting KVLL-FM to carry SFA football, baseball and men's and women's basketball games for the 2008-09 season university officials announced Thursday afternoon. SFA football and basketball games will be broadcast on Sunny 94.7 FM, while Lumberjack baseball games will remain on KSFA 860 AM.
"We're excited about our new place on the dial," said SFA Director of Athletics Robert Hill. "Since we are working with the same management, we're more than happy to make the switch to Sunny 94.7 KVLL."
A 50,000-watt station in Lufkin, Texas, Sunny 94.7 is entering its first season as the flagship station for the SFA Radio Network. Assistant athletics director Rob Meyers is entering his fourth season as the voice of Lumberjack football and basketball. Director of media relations James Dixon will serve as the play-by-play voice for SFA women's basketball, while assistant media relations director Ben Rikard returns as the voice of the Lumberjack baseball team.
"I am thrilled with the addition of SFA football on Sunny (94.7 FM)," said Gap Broadcasting Vice President and General Manager Johnny Lathrop. "Our long lasting affiliation with SFA sports is a winning partnership, and I am excited to find a home for Lumberjack football on our new radio station."
All Lumberjack and Ladyjack broadcasts can be heard live by logging onto the SFA athletics web site at www.sfajacks.com. The 'Jacks' kickoff the 2008 football season Saturday, Aug. 30, against Langston University. The game against the Lions is slated to begin at 6 p.m. from Homer Bryce Stadium.
