NACOGDOCHES - The Sue Gunter Day videos are now available announced SFA athletic officials Wednesday afternoon. The videos are $20 each, and can be ordered online at www.sfasu.edu/pubaffairs, by clicking on the "Order SFA Videos" link.
The video includes all the interviews from the luncheon prior to the game, and highlights of the Sue Gunter Ladyjack Basketball Office Suite. Proceeds from the video will go to the Sue Gunter Scholarship.
Gunter spent 15 seasons in Nacogdoches as the Ladyjacks' head coach. During that time she posted a 266-88 (.751) overall record. The 266 wins still stand as the most by any Ladyjack head coach. Gunter also guided SFA to five AIAW national tournaments, and won four state titles.
Her coacing abilities went beyond the college games and onto the international scene, where she coached the U.S. National team in 1976, 1978 and 1980. Gunter served as an assistant coach on the 1976 U.S. Olympic silver medal team before being named the head coach of the 1980 U.S. Olympic team.
Gunter left SFA to become the head coach at LSU, where she would eventually retire third all-time in wins (708). She finished her career among the leaders in several NCAA coaching categories: seasons coached (No. 1 - 40); games coached (No. 3 - 1,016); wins (No. 3 - 708) and 20-win seasons (No. 4 -22).
