
Carr Earns First-Team All-SLC Recognition

FRISCO, Texas - For the third consecutive season senior Nikki Carr has been recognized on the All-Southland Conference team, but for the first time in her career she garnered first-team recognition. A 5-6, guard from Hawkins, Texas, Carr received first-team All-SLC honors league officials announced Monday morning. Carr was also named the 2008 SLC Defensive Player of the Year.
The Ladyjacks lone senior, Carr took on a leadership role in 2007-08. She started all 28 games for the Ladyjacks, and led the team in scoring (14.1 ppg), rebounding (7.0 rpg), assists (4.5 apg) and steals (3.1 spg), and finished tied for third on the team in blocks.
Carr was a contender for league player of the year honors in her final season at SFA. She finished the regular season among the top 10 in scoring and rebounding, and among the league's top five in assists and steals.
Carr will graduate SFA among the school's all-time leaders in several different categories. She is currently second in school history in steals (272), sixth in three-point field goals (123), ninth in assists (413) and 10th in free throws (289). Earlier this season, Carr became the 23rd Ladyjack to score 1,000 points in her career.
The Ladyjacks earned the league's No. 5 seed heading into the Southland Conference Championships, and will face fourth-seed Lamar Wednesday, March 12. The game against the Lady Cardinals is slated to begin at 8:30 p.m. from the Merrell Center in Katy, Texas.
