
Knicky Earns AP All-America Honors

NEW YORK - Stephen F. Austin junior defensive end Tim Knicky has been named third-team All-America according to an Associated Press release Wednesday afternoon. The honor comes after a season that saw Knicky earn first-team All-Southland Conference accolades.
One of the most dominant defensive linemen in the Southland Conference, Knicky finished fifth in the country, and tops in the SLC with 12 sacks. He also led the league, and finished ninth in the nation with 20 tackles for a loss. The heart-and-soul of the Lumberjacks' defensive effort, Knicky ended the season with 74 total tackles, including 40 solo stops. He was also credited with four pass breakups, five forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.
Knicky earned honorable mention all-conference honors after his freshman and sophomore seasons. He entered the 2008 campaign as a preseason second-team all-conference selection before earning first-team honors at the end of the year. He will enter his senior season with 164 tackles, 44 tackles for loss and 20 sacks in 28 career starts.
