NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Lauren Railey became the first Ladyjack to total 1,500 digs and 1,500 kills in a career, but the Central Arkansas Sugar Bears hit .295 as a team and pulled out a 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-21) sweep at Johnson Coliseum on Saturday to spoil senior night for the Ladyjacks.
The loss is the first time SFA has been swept at home in conference play since 2001 and leaves SFA (18-7, 9-4) and UCA (18-7, 9-4) in a tie at the top of the SLC East Division; however the Sugar Bears are not eligible for the SLC Tournament due to transitional rules after moving up from Division II in 2006. SFA sits in a three-way tie for third place overall in the SLC, but would hold the No. 4 seed in the SLC Tournament due to tiebreakers if the tournament started today.
Railey picked up her sixth straight double-double, registering 11 kills and 11 digs, but only MC Bottles was able to join her in double figures with 10 kills.
SFA only hit .049 in the first set and only .145 for the match, as UCA hit .361 in the first set and no lower than .231 in any of the three sets.
Jessica Hays landed 16 kills, followed by 13 from Amicha Williams for the Sugar Bears while Robyn Smith held on to her lead in the SLC assists race by dishing out 39 compared to 33 for SFA's Whitney Schott.
SFA has three matches set for next week, all on the road in south Louisiana against McNeese State, Nicholls State and Southeastern Louisiana.
The Ladyjacks will host the SLC Tournament beginning Nov. 21 at Johnson Coliseum.
