FRISCO, Texas - Sophomore Laurel Kuepker earned her second Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor on Monday, the third time a Ladyjack has earned the honor already this season.
Kuepker earned the honor in the second week of the season and was more than deserving after posting consecutive matches with over 20 digs in a pair of Ladyjack wins on the week over Northwestern State and McNeese State.
She currently leads the SLC with 4.68 digs per set this season, and has increased that average to five dig per set since conference play began. Against Northwestern State she was all over the court, digging 21 balls in only three sets as the Ladyacks cruised past the Demons. She followed that up with 20 more digs against McNeese State on Saturday to average 5.86 digs per set for the week.
Kuepker is the first player in the SLC to win a second weekly award from the conference and gives SFA a league-best four SLC Player of the Week nods.
Kuepker and the Ladyjacks are back in action on Tuesday against Louisiana Tech with a 7:00 p.m. first serve scheduled from William R. Johnson Coliseum. It is the first of three home matches scheduled for the Ladyjacks this week.
