NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin will be inducting three former standouts into the Lettermen's Association Hall of Fame during Saturday's Homecoming game against Texas State. The class of 2008 includes former football players Chuck Rawlinson and the late Ronnie Hawthorne, and men's basketball standout Winston Harrison.
One of the top kickers in school history, Rawlinson was a three-year letterwinner at SFA. A precision kicker with pinpoint accuracy, Rawlinson still holds the school records for points in a season (111) and career (300). Rawlinson also recorded two of the top three longest field goals in school history (58 and 54 yards).
Hawthorne was a four-year letterwinner with the Lumberjacks from 1966-69. He was one of the top return specialist and receivers during his time as a Lumberjack. Listed among the school's all-time top 10 for career receptions, receiving yards and season punt return average, Hawthorne still holds the school record for receptions (14) and receiving yards (218) in a single game.
Harrison was a three-year letterwinner for the Lumberjack basketball team from 1979-82. Harrison guided SFA to three winning seasons, including a 24-6 mark and the 1982 Lone Star Conference title. He still holds the school's single-game record for assists (14) in a game, which was set during the 1981-82 campaign.
The Lumberjacks will face Texas State Saturday in the 2008 Homecoming game. The game against the Bobcats is slated to begin at 2 p.m. from Homer Bryce Stadium.
