
Mardi Gras Madness to close out Friday night Homecoming events

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The annual Mardi Gras Madness will close out the Friday night events of the 80th annual Homecoming weekend at Stephen F. Austin. Mardi Gras Madness celebrates the opening of the SFA men's and women's basketball seasons. The event is slated to begin at 11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, in the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
Competitions will take place where students could win $1,000 tuition from Joe Max Green Insurance Concepts. Barnes & Nobles Bookstore is sponsoring a contest that will give away book certificates.
In a separate contest sponsored by Varsity Bookstore, student organizations will compete in a free-throw knockout contest for a $600 cash prize for their organization. A maximum of 20 organizations can enter the contest, and each organization can have one representative.
Along with all the contests, the SFA spirit squads will also be on hand to perform for the fans. The highlight of the evening will be when the SFA men's and women's basketball teams take the floor.
