NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Starting this week, the Stephen F. Austin athletics department will make it pay for local civic groups to back the 'Jacks. For the first time ever, SFA will extend its "Show For Dough" attendance incentive program off campus and into the Nacogdoches community by rewarding civic groups who have the greatest attendance at home basketball games.
Show For Dough was originally aimed at student groups, rewarding the campus organization with the best attendance at each home basketball game by giving that group a $200 prize. Now, thanks to a $2,800 sponsorship agreement with Citizens 1st Bank, Nacogdoches civic groups will have the same opportunity.
Starting with the Lumberjacks' game against Lamar on Jan. 17, any group, church or club in Nacogdoches is eligible for a $200 reward to be given away at each home game -- for both the Lumberjacks and Ladyjacks -- for the rest of the season.
Fans simply sign in on the appropriate group's list, which will be available at a table near the William R. Johnson Coliseum main entrance. The winning organization will be announced during the second half. The winning group must be present at the time of the announcement to collect its prize. Student organizations will still compete for their $200 prize at each home game in a separate contest from the civic groups.
SFA Athletics reminds you to "Wear Purple, Get to the Game," and you could help your civic group win $200 in the Show For Dough giveaway.
