LUBBOCK, Texas - The only thing holding the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team back Friday night was the weather. SFA held a 2-0 edge over Texas Tech and was only 45 minutes away from collecting its first-ever win against the Red Raiders when the game was called on account of inclement weather.
Junior Amanda Alders scored the first goal with an assist by senior Keyli Townsend. SFA went ahead, 2-0, on a goal by sophomore Brenna Crockett. Freshman Kesia Broome assisted on the play.
The teams went to halftime with SFA on top, 2-0, when lightning in the area forced officials to cancel the contest. The Ladyjacks will return to the field Sunday in Houston, when they take on Rice in a 1 p.m. contest.
