NACOGDOCHES, Texas - It took only three quick games for the Ladyjack volleyball team to dispose of the Northwestern State Demons 3-0 (30-14, 30-14, 30-14) for the second time this season, extending its win streak over SLC opponents to 52 matches.
SFA (10-5, 1-0)) hit a season-best .427, only committing nine errors in 110 attempts on the night. The Ladyjacks also out blocked its opponent for the tenth straight match, picking up 11 team blocks while holding the Demons (4-6, 0-1) to one.
The night also saw its share of milestones as Traci Rohde and Lauren Railey each eclipsed career plateaus. Rohde picked up six blocks on the night and now has 402 for her career. Her career totals make her only the third Ladyjack to ever accumulate 1,000 kills and 400 blocks in a career.
Railey, on the other hand, picked up 11 kills and went over the 1,000-kill mark for her career; in addition to that, she also added 11 digs and now needs only 16 more digs to become only the fifth Ladyjack to ever total 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in a career.
With the sweep, it gives SFA six consecutive sweeps over their c ounterparts from Natchitoches and makes Debbie Humphreys 31-0 in her career against the Demons.
Overall, Rohde and JJ Jones led the way with a match-high 12 kills followed by Railey's 11. Laurel Kuepker picked up another 14 digs and Briana Taylor added eight kills and three blocks of her own.
The Ladyjacks continue Southland Conference play on Saturday, squaring off with Central Arkansas at 3:00 p.m. from William R. Johnson Coliseum.
