`Meet the 'Jacks' Slated for Monday, Aug. 27th

NACOGDOCHES - Fans of the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team can get their first look at the 2007 version of the 'Jacks Monday, Aug. 27, when SFA hosts its annual `Meet the 'Jacks.' The event is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the Baker Pattillo Student Center.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased from any member of the Fredonia Rotary. The ticket includes a barbecue meal. The evening will be highlighted by the introduction of the 2007 Lumberjack coaches and players. Following the event fans can get autographs of their favorite players.
The Lumberjacks have been picked as high as second in the Southland Conference preseason polls, and return 41 letterwinners from last year's squad that went 4-2 and finished second in the conference.
Among the 'Jacks' returnees are preseason first-team all-conference quarterback Danny Southall, running back Louie Runnels, offensive linemen Taylor Cobb and Brock Pasteur and linebacker Damian Perkins. The Lumberjacks open the 2007 season Saturday, Sept. 1, when they host Tarleton State. The game against the Texans is slated to begin at 6 p.m. from Homer Bryce Stadium.
