NACOGDOCHES - Along with its regular scheduled practice times, the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team took time from its busy schedule Thursday to feed the Lumberjack Marching Band and SFA spirit squads for lunch, as well as, host SFA Ladies' Night sponsored by State Farm Insurance.
The Lumberjack seniors gathered on the SFA throwing fields at noon to serve the Lumberjack Marching Band a barbecue meal catered by Harlon's Barbecue. It was an opportunity for the team to help build excitement for the upcoming season, as well as thank the band for their support of SFA athletics.
The 'Jacks' coaches and players returned to the SFA athletic field house Thursday evening to host SFA Ladies' Night. The program was done to help teach female fans the basics of the game. Approximately 40 ladies showed up to meet the coaches, players and learn about the ins and outs of the game.
The 'Jacks return to the practice field Friday morning for one workout, and will spend the rest of the day in position meetings. The team will take Saturday off, and hit the practice field again on Sunday, which will be the final workout before the team starts classes Monday.
