
SFA Standout Competes at Pan-American Junior Championships

SAO PAOLO, Brazil - After a standout freshman season with the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack track and field team, rising sophomore Kaitlyn Andrews continues to excel on the field during the summer. Andrews recently competed at the Pan-American Junior Championships in Sao Paolo, Brazil, where she finished fifth in the shot put with a throw of 44-10.
The Georgetown, Ontario, native recorded a stellar first season with the Ladyjacks throws squad. Andrews earned all-conference during the indoor season finishing second overall in the shot put with a throw 48-2.75. She followed up the indoor season with a solid outdoor campaign scoring points at the SLC Outdoor Championships in the shot put and discus. She capped off her rookie season by competing in the shot put at the 2007 NCAA Midwest Regional Championships.
Andrews will continue her summer competition schedule Friday, July 27, when she travels to Abbotsford, B.C., to compete in the Canadian Junior Championships. The meet will run through Sunday, July 29.
