NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer coach Jaime Frias announced Tuesday an addition to his 2007 signing class. Goalkeeper Courtney Bauder has inked a letter of intent to attend college at SFA and continue her soccer career with the Ladyjacks. Bauder is the seventh signee added to the roster this spring.
A 5-5 Las Vegas, Nev., product, Bauder is expected to bolster the Ladyjack goalkeeping ranks immediately. A rash of injuries to the top two net-minders on the squad took their toll on SFA in 2006.
"Courtney has competed against some of the top clubs in the country," Frias said of his newest addition. "All of the coaches that have worked with her say she is the margin of victory in most matches she's in. She brings a great deal of quickness and leadership to the goalkeeping position. Courtney's competitive nature will allow her to fight for playing time this fall."
Bauder is a senior at Bonanza High, a Class 4A school in Las Vegas. She has lettered in soccer all four years at Bonanza and earned three letters in softball as a centerfielder and second baseman.
Bauder was a part of nine shutouts combined in her freshman year with six coming solo. She upped that number to 12 as a sophomore and recorded 10 shut-out wins her junior year. As a senior this season, Bauder recorded seven shutouts.
In each of the last three seasons, Bauder has been named to the All-Southwest Division team. She was an All-Southern Nevada selection and an All-Sunset Region honoree as a senior. Bauder served as her soccer team's captain as both a junior and senior, and she was an All-Southwest Division second-team selection for softball in 2006.
In five years as a club player for the Rebel Select '89 squad, Bauder helped guide her team to four Nevada state championships. The team won the U.S. Club Regional Championship in 2006 and was the Silver State Champion in 2004, 2005 and 2006. The Rebel Select '89 team captured the Nevada Mayors Cup Championship in 2004, 2005 and 2006. The team has been ranked as high as 34th in the nation.
A National Honor Society member at Bonanza, Bauder has earned the school's Varsity Scholar Athlete Award in each of her four years as a student-athlete. Courtney is the daughter of Ken and Rosemary Bauder.
