NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack baseball team will look to add on to its two-game win streak Wednesday afternoon when it travels to Dallas to face Dallas Baptist at 6 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday evening, but due to forecasted thunderstorms in the Dallas area, the game, which will be played at DBU's Patriot Field, was pushed back a day.
The Lumberjacks are coming off a 2-2 week after posting two straight losses to Houston and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi before taking the next two from the Islanders. The Lumberjacks are 20-18 overall in 2007.
At the plate, Steven Hill is still dominating with a .373 batting average and his league-leading 15 home runs. David Miller will be making his first start of the season for SFA. Last week, Miller pitched 5.1 innings in two appearances and did not give up a hit. In 4.1 innings of relief Friday against the Islanders, Miller struck out seven and walked one.
In Dallas, the Patriots have won four of their last five games, with the loss coming against Oklahoma. DBU just swept Missouri State in a doubleheader played Saturday. The Patriots are 11-1 at home and have a 20-17 overall record. Leading the Patriots are Austin Krum and Austin Knight who are both batting .358.
This is the second game of a home-and-home series between SFA and DBU. Earlier this season, the Lumberjacks took a 13-5 win from the Patriots at Jaycees Field. Last season, SFA was 0-3 against Dallas Baptist.
The Lumberjacks will return to Nacogdoches for a three-game Southland Conference series against Texas-San Antonio at Jaycees Field Friday starting at 3 p.m.
