SAN MARCOS, Texas - Facing Texas State ace Ragen Blake for the third straight game, the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack softball team again saw its offense sputter. The Ladyjacks were shut out for the second time in three outings Sunday as Texas State took a 4-0 victory and a 2-1 series win. The loss dropped SFA to 17-25 overall and 10-8 in Southland Conference play.
The Ladyjacks mustered just two hits - one each by left fielder Crystal Dahlquist and designated player Ashley Wilburn - and left five runners stranded in the series finale.
The Bobcats touched SFA starter Magen Butler for nine hits, including a solo home run, in taking the win. Butler pitched all six innings, allowing four earned runs with three walks and two strikeouts. She fell to 1-3 on the season in taking the loss.
The Ladyjacks will return to action Tuesday, when they open a three-game SLC series at home against McNeese State.
