
Ladyjack Tennis Takes 5-2 Win Over McNeese State

LAKE CHARLES, La. - Roxana Enica and Laura Harrison posted wins in singles play and as doubles partners in Stephen F. Austin's 5-2 victory over McNeese State Friday afternoon. The Ladyjacks are now 5-10 overall and have a 2-5 Southland Conference record.
In doubles action, SFA took the point the No. 1 and No. 3 pairs won their sets. Enica and Harrison took an 8-3 win from Urska Dobersek and Victoria Martinez. Gabriela Gadeva and Tatiana Smolnikova defeated Romana Hueller and Teo Costin by an 8-4 margin in No. 3 play.
Dobersek pushed Enica to three sets in No. 1 singles play, but Enica recovered from 6-0 first set defeat to win the next two, 6-3 and 6-1. Laura Harrison faced Natascha Jongeneel in No. 2 singles and took the win with scores of 6-1 and 7-5.
McNeese State's No. 3 and 4 singles took wins from SFA's Gadeva and Lauren Nowicki, but Smolnikova and Mary Harrison came away with wins for the Ladyjack victory. Smolnikova's win did not come easily, as she posted a 7-6(7-5), 7-5 win over the Cowgirls' Inga Efimenko in No. 5 singles. In No. 6 play, Mary Harrison defeated Petra Gudelj by a score of 6-0, 6-1.
The Ladyjacks return to the court Saturday morning at 10 versus the Lamar Cardinals in Beaumont, Texas.
