
Ladyjack Tennis Drops Heartbreaker to Northwestern State

NACOGDOCHES - Saturday afternoon's Southland Conference tennis match between the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks and the Northwestern State Lady Demons came down to one match to break the 3-3 tie, and it was the Ladyjacks who suffered the 4-3 loss. SFA is now 4-10 overall and 1-5 in Southland Conference action.
In doubles' play, SFA's No. 3 duo of Gabriela Gadeva and Tatiana Smolnikova won by default and Roxana Enica and Laura Harrison's 9-7 win over Bogusia Patzer and Magali VandenBergh in No. 1 doubles gave SFA the doubles point.
Smolnikova took the win by default in No. 6 singles and only Gadeva was able to come away with in a win in singles action. Facing VandenBergh, Gadeva won the No. 3 match by a 7-6, 6-2 margin. In No. 2 singles, Laura Harrison lost the first set, 6-4, and won the second set, 7-6, but fell in the tiebreaker, 6-0.
The Ladyjacks will head to McNeese State Friday for a 2 p.m. match before facing Lamar Saturday at 10 a.m.
