
'Jacks Finish Tied for 10th at Rice

HOUSTON, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team shot a 314 Sunday afternoon to finish tied for 10th, along with Louisiana Tech. The 'Jacks shot a three-round score of 316-313-304 - 931. SFA was led by freshman Ricky Wilkenfeld who recorded an 80-76-76 - 232 to finish tied for 27th overall.
Diboll native Matthew Oates recorded the Lumberjacks' second-best score shooting a 79-76-81 - 236 to finish tied for 36th overall. Junior Chad Spencer struggled in the final round of action carding an 86 Sunday to finish four strokes back of Oates. Senior Ryan Salinas improved by eight strokes from his second round Saturday to finish with a 241. Salinas' finished the tournament 61st overall. Sophomore Johnathan Porter finished tied for 67th after recording an 83-87-79 - 249.
The 'Jacks return to action Monday when they travel to the San Antonio, Texas to compete in the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational.
