NACOGDOCHES - First-year head coach J.C. Harper and the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team will begin spring camp Sunday with a 2:15 p.m. practice at Homer Bryce Stadium. The practice will be the first of 15 practice dates for the 'Jacks over the next five weeks.
All practices will begin at 2:15 p.m. and are open to the public. The 'Jacks will host two scrimmages during that time, with the first one taking place Friday, Mar. 2, at 7 p.m. The Lumberjacks will close out the their 2007 spring camp Thursday, Mar. 22, with their final scrimmage. It is slated to begin at 6 p.m. from Homer Bryce Stadium.
The Lumberjacks are coming off a 2006 season that saw them win four of their final six games to finish tied for second in the Southland Conference. The Lumberjacks head into spring practice with 10 returning starters on offense, and seven returning starters on defense. Attrition did take a heavy toll on the Lumberjacks' secondary, as SFA will be looking to replace four of its five starters this spring.
