NACOGDOCHES - A great many questions may have been answered about the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks' young team during its first exhibition game against St. Mary's (TX) last Thursday. SFA rattled off an 84-52 victory in impressive fashion. The Ladyjacks will look to make in two in a row Tuesday night when it returns to the William R. Johnson Coliseum to host Huston-Tillotson in its final exhibition game of the season. The game against the Rams is slated to begin at 7 p.m. from the William R. Johnson Coliseum, and is free to the public.
The Ladyjacks overwhelmed St. Mary's with five players in double figures led by the underclassmen. Four of the five Ladyjacks in double figures were sophomores or younger, and three of those four were freshmen.
Rookie guard Decreasha Goodner led the team with 15 points, while classmate Ebony Alexander added 14 points and Jordan Ford scored 13 points. Another freshman led SFA in rebounding, as Antoinette Davis-Jackson pulled down seven boards. Even more impressive, is the fact that Nikki Carr, the team's lone senior, played 20 minutes and scored only four points.
The Ladyjacks will open the regular season on the road in New Orleans, La., for the second consecutive season. The Ladyjacks will open the season against the UNO Lady Privateers Sunday at 7 p.m.
