
Late Rally Falls Short

CONWAY, Ark. - The Lumberjacks jumped out to a 10-0 lead but it wasn't enough as Central Arkansas rallied for a 35-23 victory Saturday night in Conway, Ark. The loss drops SFA to 0-10 heading into their season finale at Northwestern State.
The Lumberjacks led by 10 but UCA closed out the half by scoring 21 points in the final 5:38 of the half. The Bears tacked on another touchdown to open the third quarter and take an 18-point lead, but the Lumberjacks didn't give up.
Senior quarterback Danny Southall scored from one-yard out to cut the lead to 28-17 with 6:04 remaining in the third. Freshman Marcus Taylor added a 16-yard run to cut the lead to five points. The 'Jacks went for two but were unable to convert.
The Lumberjacks defense held, forcing a three-and-out, and giving the SFA offense the ball back with just over five minutes remaining, but the Lumberjacks were unable to move the ball. The Bears tacked on one final touchdown to close out the scoring.
Freshman Jabara Williams led SFA with 20 carries for 109 yards. He also led the team with nine tackles. Freshman quarterback Jeremy Moses completed 18-of-31 passes for 190 yards.
The Lumberjacks close out the season Saturday at Northwestern State. The game against the Demons is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
