FRISCO, Texas - Senior Jami Hill has been named the Southland Conference's Defensive Player of the Week for the second straight week, the conference office announced on Monday.
Hill earned the honor for the first time in her career a week ago and is the first Ladyjack to do so in back-to-back weeks since Traci Rohde did so in 2006.
She continued her exceptional play since dawning the libero jersey in leading the Ladyjacks to wins over UT-Arlington and Texas State. Against the Lady Mavs she picked up a season-high 31 digs in only three games, giving her the highest three-game total in the SLC this season.
Hill would follow that up with a 21-dig performance at Texas State on Friday, giving her more than 20 digs in each of her four matches at the new position. For the week she averaged 7.43 digs per game and now sits second in the SLC in digs per game in conference only matches.
Hill and the Ladyjacks have won 57 straight conference matches and will attempt to tie the all-time SLC win streak on Friday when it takes on Sam Houston in Huntsville.
