Hey, everybody its Jessica Gaines better known as Jess.
In this blog, I would like to introduce you to my teammates. You know us as Nikki (23), Tasha (10), Martina (13), Whitney (20), Jackie (40), Decreasha (00), Ebony (12), Chantol (25), Jordan (32), Toni (30), and me (11) - The Ladyjacks.
The season is finally here! The team has been working so hard during these last couple of months leading up to the season, and it's definitely showing. Practice has been tough, and everyone has been challenging each other in order to be successful. We are looking forward to preseason and our first exhibition game on Thursday. So far, everything has been great, everybody came into preseason fit and ready to go, training sessions have been intense and productive, and we even managed to have some fun. We have a very young team with one senior, two juniors, two sophomores and six freshmen. The freshmen are great, everybody loves them, and they have proven to be both great players on the court as well as a fun-loving group off the court.
This past weekend was Homecoming, and on Friday night we had Mardi Gras Madness. We followed that up with a team scrimmage Saturday. At the scrimmage we were able to show our parents and fans how hard we have been working. The practice squad has really helped us prepare for action. They really got us going and we wouldn't be where we are without their help. The overall excitement was obvious throughout the weekend. It's going to be a good year, I can feel it.
Well, I'm off to practice and hope to see everyone out at our game on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. against St. Mary's. Remember to come cheer us on. So until next time!
